Since NDA dropped, everyone’s been dropping their wall-of-text reviews of the first 10 ranks they got to play in CB. As exciting as that isn’t, here’s some great RvR action from the beta, more videos after the break, enjoy…
Sorceress RvR:
Finally. Incoming info.
Folks,
As of now, the Non Disclosure portions of our North American Beta Testing Agreement are now officially lifted. From this point on players may now freely talk about their experiences in the game as well as post screenshots, videos, etc. We will be sending an email out to all our current players with full details about the lift over the next 24 hours. Players with access to our forums can also see the letter there. Players may not talk about nor reprint posts from our forums and our Test Servers (currently Deathsword) are still fully covered by the confidentiality portions of our Beta Testing Agreement. So, other than that, free feel to talk about and share your experiences in WAR.
My thanks go out to everyone who has beta tested and continues to beta test WAR. It has been with your help and feedback that WAR is where it is today. We really appreciate your effort.
WAR is almost upon us!

VP, GM Mythic Entertainment
Looks like invites have gone out via email for a preview weekend starting Friday August 22nd, going until the 25th. It says the event is ‘invite-only,’ but everyone I know who has pre-ordered a copy of WAR has been invited. Here’s the description from the email:
Greetings!
It is our pleasure to invite you to the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Preview Weekend taking place this Friday, August 22nd thru Monday, August 25th. Join thousands of your fellow players and experience the Age of Reckoning for the first time as you adventure through two tiers of content across three campaigns.
This is an invite-only event, so don’t delay in preparing for WAR and be one of the first to engage in the thrill and glory of RvR combat before the rest of the world!
Within the email are instruction on how and where to get the client, same as the OB download, except they’ve provided an additional torrent download link:
http://torrent2.eamythic.com/WarBeta.torrent
Try that out if you’re having trouble with Fileplanet, hate Fileplanet, or just don’t feel like registering with FilePlanet and waiting 2 hours to start the damn download.
New promotional video is out, featuring the following classes: Black Orcs, Squig Herder, Engineer, Bright Wizard, Chaos Marauder, Swordmaster, and Sorceress.
It’s in French and France sucks, but this video is way rad.
The Open Beta Client Download is now available from Fileplanet. Thankfully you don’t need a full subscription, just a free account. Go get it! I hear it’s a huge file.
WAR Open Beta Begins September 7th, 2008Now you can experience the glory of battle and the thrill of WAR before the game goes live! Players can get into the WAR open beta by pre-ordering Warhammer Online from select retail partners. Participants of the closed beta will automatically be granted open beta access.
Pre-Order Customers
- Visit the new Mythic Account Management website to create your Warhammer Online game account. When prompted, enter your Open Beta code. If you have previously entered your Open Beta code in the Beta Center, you will need to enter it again when you create your WAR game account at the new account management site.
- Download the open beta client from Fileplanet.com. You will be required to create a free FilePlanet account and input your open beta pre-order code to access the file.
Closed Beta Participants
- If you are currently in the WAR closed beta, you will automatically be granted access to the open beta. Simply continue to patch your client and you’ll be ready to play.
The Open Beta will be level capped and content restricted. You will be allowed to choose any of the game’s 20 unique careers and advance through rank 20. You will also be free to explore and battle across Tiers 1 and 2 of each army’s homeland. Please note that any characters created during the Open Beta will NOT carry over into the live game as they will be wiped from the servers.
This information is valid only for North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
Well, looks like open beta will be open starting September 7th and run for a week until the headstart goes live.
Am I the only person who gets a kick out of people who nerdrage about lore?
Also testing Filler the Bear. And making fun of Mitch and his Kevin Bacon rapist look-alike.
Open Beta files will be available for download on August 18th. PLEASE NOTE: The start date for Open Beta is still to be determined. Check back here for updates!
That 18 used to be a 15. Sneaky, sneaky.
Reserve Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and receive:
Open Beta Access: Be one of the first players to experience the glory of battle and the thrill of WAR! Open Beta will run from September 3, 2008 at 10am EST until September 12, 2008 at 10am EST. The Open Beta will [be] level capped and content restricted.
Live Game Head Start: Reserve customers will get a 3-day head start on the battlefields of WAR. The Live Game Head Start begins on September 15, 2008 at 10am EST.
Sounds Legit. I remember hearing Paul Barnett say that a month for Open Beta is entirely too long, this would set it at only 2 weeks. I don’t know what’s more dissapointing, having to wait another 2 weeks, or finding out that it’s content/level restricted. They’re already limited the amount of people who are in Open Beta to only those preorder, that should be enough restrictions. I mean.. if somebody really wants to power through all 40 ranks during those 2 weeks, only to have their character deleted when they open up the Head Start program, why not let them?
